Precision over volume. Every time.

Flavors & Terpenes are potent. A fraction of a percent separates a dialed-in profile from an overpowering one. The guidance below reflects formulation best practices across the extract industry — treat these ranges as starting points and refine from there.

All ratios are expressed as weight by weight (w/w) unless noted. Use a calibrated scale accurate to 0.01g minimum.

Application 01 · Cartridges & All-In-Ones

Vape Carts & All-In-Ones

Flavors & Terpenes serve dual purpose in a cartridge: flavor delivery and viscosity management. Distillate-based carts run leaner; live resin and sauce-style formulations tolerate a higher terp load.

Recommended Ratio Range
Distillate (D8, D9, THCA) 3 – 8%
Live Resin / Sauce Base 5 – 12%
CBD / Broad-Spectrum Oil 4 – 8%
Start at the low end. Evaluate viscosity and flavor at room temp before filling hardware.
01
Warm the base
Heat distillate or oil to 122°F – 140°F in a water bath or heat block. Do not exceed 158°F — terpene volatilization begins above this range.
02
Weigh, then add
Tare your vessel with the base oil inside. Add terpenes drop by drop to hit the target weight. Do not eyeball — small errors compound across a batch.
03
Blend gently
Stir with a glass rod or magnetic stir bar at low RPM for 3–5 minutes. Avoid vortexing — air incorporation degrades the fill.
04
Rest and evaluate
Allow the blend to rest at room temperature for 15–30 minutes. Check viscosity by tilt test. Taste before full batch fill.
05
Fill hardware
Fill carts warm (113°F – 131°F) to prevent clogging. Cap immediately to limit oxidation and terpene loss.
Viscosity
If the blend runs too thin, reduce ratio by 1% increments. Diluents help achieve target viscosity without diluting flavor.
Flavor Intensity
SUPERNOVA and STRAIN SPECIFIC perform well at mid-range ratios. POLAR's menthol registers strongly — start at 3% and climb slowly.
Flower & Pre-Rolls
Learn how to spray or infuse your flavors and terpenes
Application 02 · Flower & Pre-Rolls

Flower & Pre-Rolls

Flavor & Terpene-enhanced flower demands even coating and full absorption before packaging. Over-application creates an uneven smoke and potential for harsh notes. The goal is amplification — reinforcing the existing profile, not overwriting it.

Recommended Ratio Range
Whole Flower 3 – 8%
Preground / Shake 5 – 12%
Pre-Rolls 4 – 8%
Ground material has higher surface area — ratios should be dialed down accordingly. Uniform coating is more important than high percentage.
01
Prepare Your Material
Ensure your material is at proper moisture content before application. Overly dry material absorbs too rapidly and unevenly; overly wet material resists to infusion.
02
Apply via Terpifuse or Spray
For small batches, you may spray with a fine mist spray bottle, but it is not recommended. With Terpifuse, use the beads pack and pour the entire contents into the bucket. Gently pour the entire Terpifuse solution bottle into bucket and make sure the solution fully coats the beads. Insert riser immediately after.
03
Rest and Absorb
If using spray, place the applied material in a sealed container and let it rest for 24hrs. If using the Terpifuse bucket, line the bucket with the mesh bag and add 2lbs of material. Close the lid and ensure lid is tightly sealed.
04
Seal Promptly
Ensure that contents are sealed properly for 24 hours! Label the bucket with the label sticker to keep track of your batches.
05
Mix & Reorient Material
After 24hrs, hand mix your material in the mesh bag to ensure even flavor distribution when using Terpifuse. The infusion process takes anywhere from 2-5 days depending on factors such as your material, humidity, and personal flavor preference. Make sure to mix every 24hrs for each batch.
06
Reuse for up to 10lbs
Once you're satisfied with your infusion, your next batch is ready to begin. Make sure to store your infused material in a humidity controlled bag. Repeat steps 2-5 above to begin your next batch
Don't Forget
Your material should be around 50-55% relative humidity (RH) when starting this process. Moist material will not work as well. We recommend infusing up to 2lbs of material at a time. One bottle of Terpifuse Solution can last up to 5 cycles, yielding a total of 10lbs. Results may vary depending on your starting material.
Recommendations
We recommend washing the Terpifuse bucket and riser if used with dish soap and warm water immediately after all your infusion cycles. Leave these to air dry. You may add a hygrometer into the bucket to monitor humidity. Calibrate before use. When using Terpifuse, store in a cool, dry, place.
Concentrates & Extracts

Application 03 · Concentrates & Extracts

Concetrates & Extracts

Concentrate applications vary widely by consistency — wax, shatter, crumble, and sauce each carry terpenes differently. Sauce-style and live resin-inspired formats handle higher terp loads. Shatter and crumble are more sensitive; excess terps destabilize the matrix and prevent proper set.

Recommended Ratio Range
Wax / Crumble 3 – 6%
Shatter 2 – 4%
Sauce / Diamonds 8 – 20%
Live Resin / Rosin 2 – 5%
Sauce-style applications carry the highest terp load. For live rosin, Strain Specific and CDT profiles maintain authenticity. Add post-cure.
01
Condition the Concentrate
Bring concentrates to a workable consistency — warm shatter slightly to a tacky pliable state. Wax and crumble can be worked at ambient temp. Sauce works cold.
02
Add Flavors by Weight
Use a precision syringe or pipette for small batch additions. Drizzle flavors or terpenes directly onto the surface of the concentrate — avoid pooling in one spot.
03
Fold and Incorporate
Use a dab tool or silicone paddle to fold flavors or terps into the concentrate — slow, deliberate folds. Work cold for sauce; work at room temp for wax and crumble.
04
Rest Before Packaging
Allow 30–60 minutes at stable temperature. For shatter, this rest period allows re-set. For sauce, brief cold rest (50°F – 59°F) improves separation and clarity.
Shatter Stability
Exceeding 4% on a shatter base may prevent proper set. If stability is a concern, test small batches and observe over 24–48 hours before scaling.
CDT Authenticity
For live rosin and sauce formats, our CDT and Strain Specific Series profiles preserve strain-specific character. Pair with our CDT or STRAIN SPECIFIC Series for layered authenticity across the profile.
Edibles & Infusions

Application 04 · Edibles & Infusions

Edibles & Infusions

Heat-based edible processes demand terpenes added late in production — after bulk cooking, close to pour temp. Fat-soluble carriers (coconut oil, cocoa butter) bind terpenes more effectively than water-based systems. Flavor delivery in edibles is diffused; expect a subtler profile than inhalable formats.

Recommended Ratio Range
Gummies & Soft Chews 0.5 – 2%
Chocolates & Confections 0.5 – 1.5%
Syrups 0.1 – 0.5%
Infused Oils & Tinctures 1 – 3%
Edible ratios run significantly lower than inhalable formats. Terpene perception on the palate differs from inhalation — taste small doses before scaling.
01
Complete The Base Recipe First
Cook, infuse, and homogenize your base to final temp before introducing terpenes. Adding them to active heat above 149°F causes rapid volatilization.
02
Cool to Incorporation Temp
For gummies and chocolate, allow the base to cool to 131°F – 149°F. For beverages, cool to below 122 °F before adding terpenes.
03
Add Flavors or Terpenes and Fold In
Add terpenes to the fat-phase ingredient when possible — this improves binding. Fold gently; avoid introducing air or over-agitating.
04
Pour or Set Immediately
Don't let a terp-infused base sit at temperature — pour into molds or final packaging promptly to preserve the profile.
Emulsification
For water-based beverages, terpenes require an emulsifier. Use a lecithin or polysorbate-based emulsifier at a 1:10 ratio (terp:emulsifier) before adding to liquid.
Series Pairing
Our SUPERNOVA's fruit-forward profiles translate particularly well to gummies. FUSION's layered profiles add unexpected complexity to chocolate-based formats.
Drinks & Beverages
Learn how to infuse flavors and terpenes into drinks, sodas, sparkling water, teas, and cocktails
Application 05 · Drinks & Beverages

Drinks & Beverages

Terpenes and flavors transform beverages from ordinary to extraordinary. Because terpenes are oil-based, you'll need a water-soluble or emulsified format for seamless integration — no separation, no film on top.

Recommended Ratio Range
Sparkling Water / Soda 0.1 – 0.3%
Juice / Lemonade 0.2 – 0.5%
Tea / Coffee 0.1 – 0.4%
Cocktail / Mocktail 0.3 – 0.6%
Beer / Brewing 0.3 – 0.6%
01
Start with Water Soluble Format
Start with a water-soluble or emulsified terpene format — standard oil-based terpenes will not fully integrate into water-based beverages.
02
Ratio Your Flavor
Measure your flavor by weight using a precision scale. Even small deviations at these ratios will noticeably affect taste.
03
Add to Liquid Base
Add flavor to the liquid base before carbonation or final mixing to ensure even distribution.
04
Blend the Mix
Stir or gently agitate — avoid aggressive shaking with carbonated beverages.
05
Taste and Adjust
Flavor perception in cold beverages is lower than at room temp, so test at serving temperature.
06
Seal and Rest
Seal and let rest for 15–30 minutes before final evaluation. Some flavor profiles bloom over time.
Water-Soluble Format Required
Our emulsified and water-soluble terpene lines are formulated specifically for beverage applications. Do not use standard oil-based formats in water.
Sweetness Affects Perception
Higher sugar content masks terpene expression. You may need to increase ratio slightly in sweeter bases. Always taste before finalizing.

Using Enhancers or Diluents?

Modifiers for Different Formats

How do I use Enhancers for my product?

All Enhancers are extremely potent and highly concentrated. Do not add Enhancers directly into your final product. They must to diluted into your terpene formulations before that formulation is added to any product. Once the Enhancer is diluted into your terpene formulation, close the bottle securely and shake well. Allow mixture to rest for 24-48 hours before use to get best results.

Starting point: Dankify, Kushify, Skunkify = Add 1%-5% Enhancer by Weight into the Terpene Formulation.

Gasify, Hazify, Milkify = Add 5%-20% Enhancer by Weight into the Terpene Formulation.

What is the best use case for diluents?

DILUENTS is a clean, neutral-base carrier designed to reduce viscosity in terpene blends and distillate formulations. It integrates without altering the established flavor profile of your blend.

Starting Ratio (Diluent to Blend): 1:1 to 3:1 depending on the viscosity of your blend. Titrate from 1:1 up. Test each batch.
